We are RecordIt and its affiliates ("RecordIt," "we," "us," or "our") have prepared this Privacy Policy to explain what Personal Data (defined below) we collect, how we use and share that data, and your choices concerning our data practices. Through our software, Chrome extension, and web application (the "App"), we allow individuals ("Users" or "you") to record, analyze, and share screen recordings with comprehensive debug data. The App, the Chrome extension and https://recordit.dev (the "Site") are referred to collectively in this Privacy Policy as the "Service".

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.

Before using the Service or submitting any Personal Data to RecordIt, please review this Privacy Policy carefully and contact us if you have any questions. Screen Recordings and Debug Data

When using our Service, we will process and store:

  • Screen recordings that may contain personal data depending on your activity
  • Console logs from web pages during recording sessions
  • Network request and response data including URLs, headers, and payloads
  • User interaction data (clicks, form submissions, navigation events)
  • JavaScript errors and stack traces
  • Page metadata including titles and URLs

Communication Data

We may collect information when you contact us with questions or concerns and when you voluntarily respond to questionnaires, surveys or requests for market research seeking your opinion and feedback. Providing this information is optional to you.

Service Providers

We use the following service providers to operate our Service:

  • Digital Ocean Spaces: For secure cloud storage of recordings and debug data
  • Supabase: For user authentication and metadata storage
  • Google Cloud Services: For authentication via Google OAuth

Legal Requirements

If required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) prevent fraud, (iv) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Services, or the public, or (v) protect against legal liability.

Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of all or a portion of our assets, or transition of service to another provider, your Personal Data and other information may be shared in the diligence process and transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Retention Policy

We will not retain your personal data for longer than necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. Generally, we store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your account is deleted – whichever comes first.

  • Screen recordings and debug data: Retained until you delete them or close your account
  • Account information: Retained while your account is active
  • Usage analytics: Aggregated data may be retained indefinitely in anonymized form

You use the Service at your own risk. We have appropriate security measures to prevent personal data from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed unlawfully:

  • All recordings and debug data are encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Access to your data is limited to those with a genuine business need
  • We use industry-standard security practices and regularly review our security measures
  • All data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure with enterprise-grade protection

However, no Internet or e-mail transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you include in your recordings.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can access your recordings and account information through the Service
  • Correction: You can update your account information at any time
  • Deletion: You can delete individual recordings or your entire account
  • Data portability: You can download your recordings and associated data
  • Withdrawal of consent: You can stop using the Service at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children who are under the age of 16. RecordIt does not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 16. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 has provided Personal Data to RecordIt through the Service please contact us and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases.

8. International Data Transfers

Your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you are resident. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country. We ensure that such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Service and our business may change from time to time. As a result we may change this Privacy Policy at any time. When we do we will post an updated version on this page, unless another type of notice is required by the applicable law. By continuing to use our Service or providing us with Personal Data after we have posted an updated Privacy Policy, you consent to the revised Privacy Policy and practices described in it.
